The Paint Brush

As I stroll through the woods in the early morning light...
Mother Nature is in the middle of saying goodbye to night.
It's as if she put her finger to her mouth and whispered "hush"!
Be very quiet while I pick up my paint brush.

Look over there where you see an empty spot...
Let's throw in some color and see what we've got!
See there where the birds are waking up?
Let's throw out some food so that they can sup!

And look over there...the deer need a drink...
Let's throw a little rain...What do you think?
And while we have the brush out look at those clouds.
Let's throw in a little pink...OH WOW!

Then she looks over to me and gives me a big smile...
And she hands me the paint brush and says...
JUST PRACTICE FOR A WHILE!

A Note To My Friend
As each year goes by and we keep asking why?
Why do we wait to make that call and why do we keep dropping the ball?

Why do we forget as we go through each day
Of all of the things we each have to say?
We promise each other that we will do better.
We'll call or stop by or at least send a letter!

And yet, here we are and another year will pass
And we say to each other it's just like the last!
And then comes the day when we come to the end
And we sit and we wait for our hearts to mend.
We cry over time we wanted to spend
With loved ones be they family or friends.
But we let the sands flow through the hour glass
And forget that one day the time will pass.

And the reason our hearts feels it's going to break
Is we look back and we didn't make the time it takes
To say to each other "You're important to me"!
And your friendship is a treasure I long to see!
